Red. Green. Gold. – Never have three colours sounded quite so tasty. London-based crooner Charles imbues every note with an emotional charge that pulls you in and keeps you rolling with the flow of his new single. It’s probably the strongest debut single I’ve heard this year, with sizzling analogue instrumentation and brazen electronic samples that dance in and out. There’s flashes of Jai Paul, Ben Khan and BiLLy in the production, paired with an outstanding vocal performance filled with all the sensuality of Bill Withers, Seal or a young George Michael.
