Break free from life’s negative pressure with The Atomic Age’s powerful indie track ‘Staring at the Sun’

It’s a generally accepted rule that life is hard, we all face various obstacles and unique hurdles, but yet it we’re all sitting under the same sky. Within our world, especially right now, there are so many aspects of our shared culture that impacts us negatively and it can sometime feel inescapable. What’s more, it can often be difficult to describe this daily grind, but that’s where the magical creatures known as musicians and songwriters come into the picture. It’s in songs like ‘Staring at the Sun’ from Nashville creative The Atomic Age where we can find that sense of solidarity in the face of seemingly unsurmountable odds.

Here, The Atomic Age (aka JJ Schrick) shares his perspective on our unstable times:

“We’re in such a divided culture (at least here in the states), and it seems like the only news you hear on TV or online is bad news. I’ve been feeling the weight of that for some time now, and wanted to share a song about it. In my humble opinion, if we don’t begin to find common ground socially, politically, and culturally, things will be far worse for future generations.”

Upon listening to this heliocentric single, we were immediately transported back to the lates 60s, early 70s era of singer-songwriters that were dipping into the well of psychedelic and rock’n’roll elements that surrounded them. What’s even more enticing about ‘Staring at the Sun’ is that these iconic styles come across so naturally and seamless, you can really tell that Schrick has a deep passion for songwriting greats. We’re picking up on the laidback-yet-meaningful vocals, the patterned percussion, the earthy piano chords, and timeless guitar riffs. Between those poetical verses you’ll find uplifting alt-rock scores in which the multi-talent shows off his expressive rock tones that pair perfectly with the spacey electronica.

This one really does have something for every indie music fan out there.

You can listen to ‘Staring at the Sun’ in our Outsiders Club playlist.
