Abt enthusiast of British folk-infused music will be over the moon to welcome back the distinctive sounds of Cut Throat Francis. The Bristol-based outfit are back with their latest single ‘I Want Your Money Back’, which is an attention-grabbing track that kicks off with a delightful blend of rhythmic instruments. As it builds up with infectious energy, the cheerful chorus and exhilarating folk-infused arrangement is balanced out by a brief, mellow moments of gentle vocals. For the most part though, you’ll just want to dance along and part of that magic is derived from Cut Throat Francis‘ ability to weave together Eastern European flavors, swing rhythms, and folk instruments together in easy synergy.
‘I Want Your Money Back’ also reflects the band’s current life stage, as you’ll hear through tongue-in-cheek references to assembling flat packs and managing bills, their relatable escapism offers a refreshing break from the chaos of the world. It’s clear to see that their self-awareness shines through in their lyrics, as they humorously poke fun at the realities of aging and transitioning into a different phase of life.
Part of that development has resulted in more new music to come from Cut Throat Francis. Collaborating with the talented Jim Barr at Bristol’s J&J studios has allowed them to explore new sonic territories and embrace a more experimental production approach. The result is a vibrant and eclectic sound that will leave you feeling invigorated and nostalgic for the carefree days of youth.
