Friday’s are for discovering new music and so we just have to introduce you to Beech Love, the exceptionally talented emerging artist who hails from San Francisco. At just 19-years-old, you might expect this young musician to fall into the trap of offering style over substance, but that’s just not the case, especially when you listen to his newest single ‘Pieces’.
The slick indie-rock track radiates with a timeless cool, something that perfectly fits into with Beech Love‘s time-travelling aesthetic. What you’ll first notice after hitting play on ‘Pieces’ is a brooding bass rhythm that immediately sets the tone; it puts us in the mindset of a forthcoming adventure. That bass is soon joined by layered hand-claps and Beech Love‘s moody and slightly smokey frontman vocal. With all this building anticipation, we were prepared for an immense moment, but even the explosion of sound that happens around 33 seconds in took us by surprise. The chorus is constructed of bursting drums, fiery guitar riffs and a new side of the artist’s voice that shows of his powerful range and passionate spirit. ‘Pieces’ is a bold step into the “deep unknown”, as the lyrics tell us.
That same confidence is seen within the official music video, which is shot in crisp black-and-white, and centers around the charismatic figure of Beech Love. It’s a bold and visually arresting video that gives us an insight into how this artist presents himself, not as a young newcomer, but as someone whose ready for stardom.
