‘All Over Again’ is the fiery punk, soul & groove blend from Bristol’s Kid Lazuras

If you’re at all familiar with the Biblical story of Lazarus, you’ll know that it’s associated with the themes of resurrection, rebirth, of coming back from the other side when all hope seems lost. This concept is also deeply tied into the moniker of Bristol-based creative Kid Lazuras whose new project is all about emerging from the unknown. They’re also keeping things rather mysterious, because really all we know at this point is that the enfant enigma made all their music in a shed, supposedly shouting at nothing. While we haven’t been in that exact situation, we definitely sympathise with that idea that all your energy and emotion is directionless, but in truth that’s not the case at all. As such, Kid Lazuras‘ efforts has resulted in a tangible track, ‘All Over Again’.

Influenced by myriad musical styles from post-punk to new wave to electronica, ‘All Over Again’ has a tantalizingly blended quality, one that exists within the grey areas of sound. Although, we do detect a strong undercurrent a soul in the bass and lead vocals, which gives the track a weaving texture around which the bouncing piano chords, fiery guitars struts and unrelenting drums are built around. While the track grows in intensity as it progresses, it does so by way of waves. Each undulation of strings, beats and keys brings about more of Kid Lazuras‘ blazing energy, until the track seemingly burns itself out in a fit of frenzied expression.

Once the silence has returned to your life, you might just be tempted to hit play… all over again. That’s our plan at least.
