For those who have never heard of Sal Weston who are they and what is their music about?
I’m an artist from Boston that creates pop music with a blend of catchy hooks and introspective songwriting. I’m inspired by a wide range of influences such as Roxy Music, The Strokes, The Smiths, Local Natives, Phoenix, Beck and The Modern Lovers and try to create a sound that is both nostalgic and contemporary.
What has been the most rewarding/ most enjoyable highlight of your career so far?
I’d say putting out this album. Writing and recording 14 songs mostly on your own takes a lot of work but also the mental side of it kind of messes with you as well.. You don’t have anyone to really bounce it off like you would in a band so you’re constantly thinking, is this any good, why am I doing this, will anyone hear it, does it matter etc etc.
What have been some major challenges in your music career so far?
I’d say navigating the technical aspect of putting your music out there, all these social platforms, distributors etc it’s a lot to learn and do by yourself on top of writing and recording the music. Plus the super competitive nature of the music industry, it’s a total shit show. But I really enjoy writing and getting my thoughts and feelings out there in song so it’s worth it.
What are you grateful for right now in this moment?
The ability to create and share my music

& Lastly, what can fans expect from Sal Weston for the rest of this year?
