Indie songwriter Lynden. shares guitar-led ode to true love, ‘You’

Songwriters often find themselves gravitating towards a genre, or a mood, or a style. Perhaps it’s due to the music they grew up with, their personal experiences or the scene that they find themselves in throughout life. For burgeoning artist Lynden., it was more serious and sad stories that drew his attention as a young songwriter. He’s been wielding the guitar since the tender age of 11, having already been brought up on a healthy diet of ABBA, Red Hot Chill Peppers, Coldplay and Madness. When his love for music transformed into a more professional pursuit as a teenager, it was the contemporary talents of Sam Fender, Foals and Ben Howard who really ignited a passion for putting his own thoughts and emotions into songs. Lynden. made his debut in 2021 with ‘See You’, a symbolic break from the isolation of the covid-19 pandemic, but also his final emergence as an independent musician in his own right.

Not one to ever rush his craft, Lynden. kept listeners waiting until this year for his anticipated sophomore single, ‘You’. Set against the backdrop of his trusty acoustic guitar, the artist delivers a gentle and dreamy indie ode to young love that doesn’t age. The steady guitar strums and softly rupturing drums produces a swaying rhythm reminiscent of an intimate slow dance. It’s evocative of the enduring appreciation on has for their true love, which for some might come across as corny, yet Lynden. creates a stylish and down-to-earth alternative ballad.

What makes ‘You’ such a special listen is that the artist based it on his own relationship: “It is a biographic recollection of the times we have had through the years and how strong of a connection and bond you can create with someone.”

While Lynden. described this song as a challenge to himself as someone who previously struggled to write love songs, we think he’s exceeded all expectations with ‘You’.

Before we leave you to enjoy this track, here’s some final words from the artist: “This song needs to be heard so that every other couple in love in the world gets to use the song to openly express how they feel towards their partner. I have opened up to create a love song so others get to shy away and not feel as anxious as I do saying the words I love you. This song is for the sunset drives, hand holding walks and calm cuddles in the kitchen.”
