School Disco’s landmark album Denton Rock is a sonic manifesto for our times

Brighton-based genre-blending post-punk rockers School Disco are back with their new album, Denton Rock. This record arrives as a powerful statement that showcases a band that’s not afraid to push boundaries and tackle pressing issues. Recorded in just three days, the album is comprised of nine tracks that explore overt political narratives, environmentalism, and the struggles of the British working class. Most of all, it’s the story of an abandoned generation, highlighting how governments have failed to address critical issues.

As the band explains, “This album has some quite strong political feelings in it, having been written over the past couple of years during a period of political turmoil.”

The album masterfully blends punk energy with political relevance, making it School Disco‘s most successful work to date. It encapsulates their growth as a band and retains the electrifying energy of their live performances. Of all the tracks on the album, we’ve go the shout out ‘Feelings Coming’, a gritty number peppered by unnerving lyrical imagery. Vocalist Rory’s delivery, reminiscent of Ian Curtis of Joy Division, adds an organic depth that keeps listeners engaged.

Denton Rock serves as a mirror to our times, reflecting the larger-than-life caricatures of politicians
