Leicester’s indie rock quartet Sorrell (composed of Dylan Lee, Sebastian Zamfirescu, Noel Walker-O’Dowd, and Robin Smith) release their latest offering ‘For Once’. Balancing melancholy and contemplation, this track showcases a more dreamy and introspective side of the group.
‘For Once’ envelops the listener with its dreamy guitar melodies and ethereal vocal harmonies. The instrumentation weaves a delicate counter-melody, creating a captivating soundscape that tugs at the heartstrings. The restrained drum and bass arrangement provides the perfect backdrop, building tension and emotion throughout the track. As the song progresses, Sorrell masterfully transitions from mellow dream-pop to a more experimental, heavier rock sound. This dynamic shift adds depth and complexity to the song, keeping the listener engaged from start to finish. Dylan Lee‘s vocals exude vulnerability as he navigates themes of existential dread and the anxiety of everyday life. The lyrics resonate with anyone who has grappled with these universal emotions while still clinging to a glimmer of hope for escape. In the song’s conclusion the instruments and vocals slowly fade away, leaving behind an intimate, lingering feeling.
‘For Once’ follows their 2022 debut EP, Wait For Bliss, and it represents the band’s ever-evolving sound and captivating performances continue to establish them as a standout presence in the British indie-rock landscape.
