Unrecorded regulars The Horn are back with another infectious new single ‘People Like Us’. Like so many of their releases, this one serves as a compelling and timely anthem that resonates with an audience who aren’t enamoured with the extremes of debate that dominate the news cycle. The London band clearly want to connect with their listeners on a deeper level with this track, as hinted by the dynamic lyrics, “Don’t you wanna fit in this messed-up crazy world, / ‘Cos I just wanna feel it before I leave this world.” These emotive words are delivered by the cool tones of Jonny Taylor, whose laidback style is very much in keeping with the group’s ethos that they’re here to spread good vibes and even better tunes.
Elsewhere on the track, the five-piece weave together intertwining strings, anticipation building drums, down-to-earth bass, and cinematic keys. This mesh of Brit-pop inspired sound produces a hazy atmosphere into which you’ll want to be completely lost. Ultimately, it satiates our inescapable yearning for acceptance by providing a safe space to just be yourself.
Produced by the band’s long-term collaborator Danton Supple, ‘People Like Us’ masterfully captures the essence of recognition and solidarity through this pop-rock gem. It’s safe to say, we’re eagerly awaiting the release of The Horn‘s debut album, due on November 3rd this year.
You can listen to ‘People Like Us’ in our Outsiders Club playlist.
