Pale Moon return with ‘Spaghetti’, a delicious mess of indie-pop joy

There’s nothing quite like reconnecting with a much-loved band or artist who may have sunk to the back of your playlists lately. It’s that “oh yeah, how could I forget about that?!” kind of feeling, one that throws your back into happy memories soundtracked by that special creative project. For us, the welcome reintroduction to Barcelona-based Icelandic duo Pale Moon was much needed, especially as their new track ‘Spaghetti’ is such an audible treat. It’s as though this release has satiated a hunger that we didn’t even realise we had.

‘Spaghetti’ is a slinky journey through soulful indie-pop melodies, reverb-rich guitars, grooving downbeats, and funky bass. While seemingly put together on the surface, this cohesive track celebrates making a mess, whether that be purposeful or accidental. One of the best metaphors we’ve ever heard for reveling in screw-up-ness is, “spaghetti in your pretty faces.” This “sexy mess” aura is portrayed through glimmering, richly toned lead vocals, which are absolutely unapologetic.

It might be aesthetically pleasing to have shiny shoes and polite to say all the right things, but it’s also personally constraining. Instead, Pale Moon encourages listeners to embrace a little bit of chaos and a lot of freedom.

Recorded in Catalunya, Spain, ‘Spaghetti’ is set to be part of Pale Moon‘s sophomore album, Carpets, Cables, and Sweaty Hearts.

You can also listen to ‘Spaghetti’ in our Shades of Pop and Outsiders Club playlists.
