Georgia Hoareau’s songwriting shines in emotional alt-pop single ‘Only One’

Introducing Georgia Hoareau, the 19-year-old Australian singer and songwriter who might be a relatively new name on the scene, but that won’t be the case for long. The song that has us so convinced is ‘Only One’, an emotionally-intelligent alt-pop track co-written with Sydney’s noteworthy songwriter Patrick James, with production from Scott Steven. It’s clear from her collaboration credentials and the resulting track, that Hoareau is mature beyond her years. It’s not too surprising considering that she released her debut single ’17’ in 2021, when she was just 17-years-old. Since then, her skills and, more importantly, life experiences have grown, giving her more control over setting the story as she wants it to be known.

With a warm and uplifting guitar bringing in a grounding folk elements, this light bedroom-pop single sensitively explores uncertainty in love. Hoareau‘s wide vocal range delivers a heart-melting performance that sounds like a stream of messages sent to a romantic partner. However, it’s not all straight-forward in love, as the artist admits that she’s too young to know if t will last forever, but therein lies the preciousness of holding on to the moment.

From acoustic verses to a soaring pop chorus to glimpses of stripped-back intimacy, ‘Only One’ is a diverse and unforgettable track that bodes well for Georgia Hoareau‘s future career in music.
