It takes a special kind of artist to have the confidence to present a track that’s mostly acoustic guitar and vocals, but it’s that kind of boldness you’ll find with with London-based musician, singer and producer Harry Houseago, who performs as h. eldritch. His most recent single ‘Innocent Sinner’ is but one example of why this artist is gaining more and more recognition. Combining the seemingly disparate genres of indie-folk, dirty electronica, and soulful rock in a raw and expansive recording, this track puts the listener right in the audience at a shows. Each sparked guitar strings and bluesy notes reverberates around the spacious sonic arena, further deepening the listening experience.
As far the narrative behind ‘Innocent Sinner’, h. eldritch‘s charismatic-yet-gritty vocal style is the perfect vector for this mysterious tale. It depicts a dark romance with a partner who could just as easily hurt you as make you whole. It’s that kind of hedonistic and sensual twin-flame relationship that will probably burn you both out, yet you still can’t help yourself.
Houseago pours his heart and soul into this single, distilling the untamed passion into thrilling falsetto, gravelled croons and a dynamic finger-style guitar performance. It’s cinematic without being predictable. This might be our first introduction to h. eldritch, but it’s already marked him out as an artist we’re going to keep an eye.
