Recently, we celebrated the return of Honey Motel after an 18-month hiatus when they came back with ‘The Mantinee’. Now the Liverpool-based band continues this new chapter with a vibrant dose of glowing psychedelic pop in ‘When We Die, We Die’.
This newest track immediately captivates with soaring electric guitar licks, grooving bass lines, and a rhythmically charged drum line that injects an undeniable energy into the auditory experience. The indie-rock vocals deliver a passionate performance, saturated with personality and complemented by harmonious cries, adding to the overall joyous spirit of the music.
With ‘When We Die, We Die’, the band shares a philosophical perspective on life, urging listeners to embrace their true selves without succumbing to fear and anxiety.
“Life is never what it seems when you are a youngster. It always turns out in a much more nuanced way. What you perceive as a nipper is too simple, obvious, and predictable. Life is much more complex, and that complexity is beautiful. Even with all our knowledge of the universe and science, nobody knows what awaits across the other side, I am pretty sure it’s nothing. But I am also pretty unsure of that surety. Either way, I can’t live my life with fear, anxiety, and apprehension of tomorrow. The finite nature of life is the exact quality which makes it beautiful. When it’s done, it’s done. So, spend your money, be who you’re meant to be. When it’s over, it’s over.”
The finite nature of life, as expressed in the lyrics, becomes a source of beauty, encouraging individuals to live authentically and savor each moment. Honey Motel’s distinctive sound promises to elevate their status in the industry. With their immersive sonic haven, they invite listeners on a journey through vibrant hues and kaleidoscopic patterns, transcending the boundaries of ordinary musical experiences.
