‘Not Good For Me’ is the fourth single to be unleashed by the dynamic partnership of Irene Ní Chuinn and Martin Quinn. The Irish duo, performing as One Flew Over, clearly know a thing or two about making a long-lasting impression as this track draws on the cinematic drama of a vintage rock-and-blues sounds. As you’ll hear, the strutting guitars and rambunctious drums possess an untamable quality that beckons forth visions of reclaiming one’s power in the most savvy and self-assured way possible.
At the helm of this powerful anthem is Ní Chuinn‘s powerhouse vocal that conveys that confident and smokey soul that one associates with old-school blues or James Bond film scores. The monumental statement “you’re no good for me” is a potent reminder of one’s intrinsic worth. Such an empowering message is the perfect fit for this rock, pop, and soul influenced track.
One of our favourite parts comes right at the end of the track, when all is said and done. The dense production cools off and listeners are led out with tinkling keys, breathy backing vocals, and a reverberated finger clicks. It’s here where all that tension is finally let go and with that we also exist ‘Not Good For Me’ with a sigh of pure sonic satisfaction.
