Feel the Heat: Desperate Electric’s spirit reviving ‘Red Hot’

There’s something about this time of year, with its long rainy days, heavy clouds looming overhead, and the whispers of Spring only just emerging that makes us seek out energy charging tracks. The miraculous recovery that an upbeat bop can have is still something that amazes us – even after years of writing about music. The latest mood booster to pop up on our radar belongs to the dynamic duo Desperate Electric. Hailing from America’s mountainous state of Montana, this pair proves that they know a thing or two about enlivening the spirits with new single ‘Red Hot’.

This bracing track walks, or should we say boogies down, that line between contemporary soul, vintage disco, and 80s rock-pop. It makes you want to don your loudest jacket and freshest shoes for a good old dance party. ‘Red Hot’ opens with pulsating beats and mysterious vocals that exude a sensuous persona. From here, the grooves are relentless, accentuated by vibrant synths. Each half of Desperate Electric take it in turns to entice the other, embodying what it takes to keep the fire alive in a relationship. The scintillating passion also breaks through into the soundtrack at the 1:55 minute mark with a cinematic guitar riff and soaring vocal thrills.

There’s no denying that ‘Red Hot’ is a seriously catchy and inviting track, one that’ll have you hungry for more from Montana’s hottest export.
