Embark on an indie-rock adventure with Getting Started’s ‘Anywhere’

Listening to Getting Started‘s newest and third single ‘Anywhere’ we have the sudden urge to hop in the car or jump on a train and see where that journey takes us. There’s nothing quite like the wanderlust-filled sensation of heading out on the road for an adventure. This Chicago-based band perfectly encapsulate this feeling with their promises of an escape from the mundane, “tell me where you wanna go, I’ll take you anywhere this side of the coast.”

Getting Started, comprised of Jack Gallo (vocals, rhythm guitar), Matt Stein (lead guitar), Pat Hickey (bass), and Jack Scanlon (drums), has crafted a bold yet breezy sound that draws on 90s alt-rock, 00s indie-rock and contemporary songwriting. It’s a fresh combination of British indie-rock tones, that come through in Gallo‘s bruised lead vocal and the richly layered instrumentation, and a subtle American rock timbre that you’ll find in the melodies and guitar riff. The upbeat, 60s-era drum rhythms are perfect for driving; propelling one forward with each toe-tapping beat.

‘Anywhere’ continues on in a fairly placid, although still rock infused, up until the final minute when the track bursts into vibrant life. Shredded guitars, thumping bassline, and wild drums take centre stage for a face-scrunching breakdown that gives the soundtrack that final push towards its energetic end. From start to finish, Getting Started deliver infectious energy with this stylish cross-continental approach to alt-rock.
