Helsinki’s underground ones-to-watch Drug Store Raid have returned with another sonic blast ‘I Wanna Be A Hipster’. This latest single is a refreshing continuation of their gritty post-punk sound, following their satirical track ‘Vi Är Finnjävlar’. The band’s latest offering is a playful yet biting critique of the hipster subculture, reflecting on their own place within it. With raw guitars, pounding rhythms, and sharp lyrics, it delivers a sonic experience that’s both rebellious and humorous.
True to their eclectic style, Drug Store Raid seamlessly blend genres like punk, jazz-funk, new-wave, and indie-dance. This genre-bending approach allows them to create a truly unique sound that’s both catchy and thought-provoking. By all means, ‘I Wanna Be A Hipster’ is just a taste of what’s to come from Drug Store Raid. Their upcoming album, Background Music For Family Arguments (due out 15th November 2024 via Kieku Records), is already on the horizon.
If you happen to be around Helsinki on the 28th November, don’t miss Drug Store Raid‘s album release show at Semifinal. It’s sure to be an unforgettable night for fans of boundary-pushing punk.
