Hey, how long have you been making music?
I’ve been making music for almost a decade, but only went solo at the start of this year. After the BBC picked up my first single, it’s all been crazy! I was spending some time at home with mum, because I was struggling with my mental health.
Is that when you started thinking of yourself as a writer?
It’s all a bit of a blur now when I think back to it, but either way, I had a lot of alone time where I just put whatever I was feeling into songwriting. I never had the confidence to do it alone, I’m one of those people who, when surrounded by friends I’m the loudest in the room, but I’m actually pretty insecure.
Could you give us some background on the new record?
Anti Social is about social anxiety from the perspective of people around the victim. I wanted to take a new angle on the subject. Mental health is starting to have more of a dialogue in mainstream media, but I think there are still really important behaviours to address.
What do fans have to look forward to?
I’d love to have had the budget to create a music video for the song – I have so many visual & imagery ideas for the subject too.
