Electronic funk punk trio Vandebilt releases relentlessly rhythmic ‘Pushing Through’. It treads the boundaries between synth-pop, indie and funk; with a focus on searing vocal melodies. Guitars abound, driving the chorus with percussive riffs – whilst a bold bass line completes the sound. Synths are also a hallmark of the band’s sound, tying in electronic elements and rich organic textures creates a unique, sumptuous sonic world.
“We wanted to write a track that hits you and then it hits you again. It’s honest and angry and intense. It’s about showing how brave vulnerability can be. Despite all the shit, as people we can still push through. I didn’t realise it at the time but I wrote it to myself.”
