Here, the singer and songwriter shares some of his own personal motivations behind the single:
“I wrote “No Control” about the anxiety I’ve struggled with since I was a kid. Whenever I’m in situations where I don’t have control over the outcome, or I’m trying to make a big decision, I can sometimes overthink and worry to the extreme. It’s frustrating and makes things harder than they need to be, and it can sometimes feel like an endless cycle, so I wrote this song to vent about it. I worked on it remotely with Harper James on the production, and I’m super proud of how it came out.”
Ultimately, ‘No Control’ is an inspiring blend of vibrant alt-pop and fresh indie-rock, punctuated with optimistic synths that showcases McMahon‘s exceptional talent as a songwriter and vocalist. It’s a timely reminder of the importance of self-care and self-love, especially in times of uncertainty. Songs like this speak to the human experience in a way that is genuine and relatable, and it’s clear that Peyton McMahon has a bright future ahead.
