Jamws shines in enrapturing debut record, titled Soft

What a way to make your first entrance onto Unrecorded, than with a whole album! This record comes from Jamws, an unquestionably talented singer-songwriter, who has truly come into his own with his debut release, Soft. It follows the success of his earlier singles, ‘I Don’t Want To Fall In Love’ and ‘How’s LA?’, both of which feature on the album and are two of the ignition points that has led to this musician being recognised as a rising name within the UK alt-pop space.

Elsewhere on the album you’ll find title-track single ‘Soft’, which showcases Jamws‘ authentic approach to songwriting by delivering swirling melodies and a toe-tapping rhythm. Jamws displays his versatility and genre-bending abilities throughout the project, effortlessly flowing between minimal offerings and soft euphoria. With such a vulnerable narrative, this track strikes the balance between catchy radio-ready hit and intimate personal listen. Part of that magic comes from Grammy-nominated Mikko Gordon‘s polished-yet-complementary production.

As you will gather upon listening to the Soft LP, this is a deeply personal album, that touches upon the highly relatable themes of heartbreak, grief, and the fear of intimacy. It strikes us as so genuine, because these songs were born out of a transformative period in Jamws‘ life. As he explains:

Soft is about the pains of a growing heart, it’s a break-up album, it’s about grief and trying to heal, it’s about dying to be seen but afraid of intimacy. The album came at a time in my life where I felt very vulnerable – I was dating for the first time, I started therapy, the pandemic happened, life was different and I had to keep moving.

In short, Jamws‘ unique sound blends dreamy ethereal elements with infectious pop hooks, leaving a lasting impression on the listener.
