For those who have never heard of Minoh, who are they and what is their music about?
We are a Korean German couple that makes Disco Punk. The music is a blend of distorted baritone guitar, fuzzy bass, and pulsating lo-fi disco rhythms, accompanied by energetic synthesizers, that creates an atmospheric sonic landscape.
What has been the most rewarding/ most enjoyable highlight of your career so far?
One of the most rewarding and enjoyable moments in our short career so far was when our demo EP received an amazing review in a German Punkrock magazine called Ox. It completely caught us off guard, and we felt incredibly grateful for the recognition. Not only did it give us a lot of exposure, but it also generated positive reactions within the German punk rock scene.
Adding to the excitement, we recently received an invitation to perform at a punk rock label festival in November 2023. This will be our very first festival concert, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about the opportunity to hit the stage and showcase our music. The anticipation is building, and we’re eagerly looking forward to delivering an unforgettable performance.
What have been some major challenges in your music career so far?
The toughest decision for me in my music career so far has been to declare that I want to make a living from my own music and therefore no longer pursue jobs with regular employment, but rather work as a freelancer. This includes activities like giving instrumental lessons and taking on other independent projects and assignments related to music.
Before that we both played in different bands as a hobby for the last 20 years, which is nice too. But now, I want to be a full-time musician and build my career from there.
What are you grateful for right now in this moment?
I am grateful for being able to make music with Guido, my friend and life partner, and for building this disco punk project together. There is no pressure involved; it feels more like a creative game, and we simply have fun doing it.
