For those who have never heard of Edie Yvonne, who are you and what is your music about?
Hi! I’m a 14 year old singer, songwriter, and actress based in LA. I wrote an album when I was stuck at home in my room during the pandemic. I come from a very creative household and music has always been all around me.
Let’s talk about the new single ‘On Your Mind’, what’s the single about?
On Your Mind was written after an argument with a loved one. I was wondering how can you feel so disconnected from someone you love?
Considering how mature and professional your music sounds, many listeners must be surprised that you’re only 14-years-old. How long have you been making music?
Thank you! I’m so lucky to work with incredible musicians / emerging producers Nicky Swedin and Cormac Liotta. They are absolutely amazing to work with. I started recording less than a year ago but have been singing my whole life.
Who or what is your biggest inspiration?
I love Mazzy Star, Fiona Apple, Fleetwood Mac, Prince….my go to get in the zone soundtrack is always Britney.
How did the years during the covid-19 pandemic affect your creativity?
It gave me the time and space to write and reflect. Also I felt there was a lot to write about going through that rare experience as an adolescent.
Do you have any advice for fellow or future songwriters who want to branch out of their comfort zone?
It’s so important to experiment, take risks, and trust your instincts.
What are you grateful for right now at this moment?
My family.
Physical copies or streaming sites, which do you prefer?
Old school – hand someone a demo. I love vinyl and listen to my grandfathers record collection daily.
What is your most played song of 2023 so far?
So far, In the Rain.
Do you have an album that you can’t get enough of?
I’ve been listening to SkyeChristy’s new album a lot and love their harmonies.
Who would be your dream collaboration?
I think producer Dave Sitek is a genius.
And lastly, what can fans expect from Edie Yvonne this year?
My next single Queen Bee drops 9/22 and I’m making a short film around the song about mean girls and their minions. We are also rehearsing to prepare for some intimate live shows and benefits.
