Luna Keller is a singer-songwriter that regular Unrecorded readers will be familiar with as we recently covered her collaboration with Clouds, ‘Live It All’, and her emotionally intelligent original ‘Shadows On My Wall’. While we loved those earlier songs, it’s her newest release ‘Ocean Inside Of Me’ that we’re even more excited about. It’s the first track to be unveiled from her entirely Kickstarter funded album, also titled Ocean Inside Of Me. As such, it marks a significant new chapter in the artist’s journey that will end in ten tracks of stunning wordsmithery, performance, and artistry.
Filling in with the album’s wider theme of mental health, this new single metamorphisises the emotional turmoil that someone struggling to control their feelings might experience. Keller paints the vivid imagery of the smooth ocean surface rupturing into unruly waves. It’s this kind of lyrical imagination that makes this songwriter so incredibly compelling.
Alongside these poetic and tempestuous words, Luna Keller has created a cinematic yet intimate listening experience. The softly plucked acoustic strings and delicate piano notes accentuates the human fragility at the heart of this song. Yet, the heartfelt indie-folk melodies are imbued with a sense of hope; they’re uplifting and warm, a reminder of the solidarity that can be found in the wider mental health community.
Paired with a beautiful video performance, Luna Keller‘s ‘Ocean Inside Of Me’ is compassionate songwriting at its finest. We can’t wait to hear the rest of her album as it unfolds.
