Painted Friends share sincere new single ‘My Heart, Your Love’ from upcoming album

In their latest single ‘My Heart, Your Love’, Detroit indie band Painted Friends take the well-worn concept of a love song and spin it in a fresh new way that relays the pure intentions of this project. Known for creating softly textured tracks designed to inspire listeners to enjoy life and cherish those small moments. With this new song, the band provides an insight into the joy they take into connecting with their audience. As songwriter Jeremy McWhorter shares, this “is a love song between me and the rest of the world. I wrote it to express my appreciation for existing. I hope you love it as much as we do.”

From the offset, Painted Friends‘ skilled songwriting that plays off optimistic instrumentation of tapping percussion and sweet guitar melody against the disarmingly sanguine lyrics. McWhorter directly asks the listener, “Have you heard the news? Planet earth is doomed.” It’s an unexpected question that could induce environmental anxiety, but the band just as easily diverts our attention with the reminder that there’s hope as long as there’s love. The easygoing, if not slightly sorrowful, aesthetic of the verses segue into uplifting choruses where those intricate strings, laidback drums, and relaxed bass comes together to elevate the spirit. At the helm, those smooth and reserved vocals lift a little higher to sing “for yours is my heart and mine is your love.”

As the second single to be shared in 2024, ‘My Heart, Your Love’ joins ‘Cain Complex’ in building up the picture of the upcoming and highly anticipated album, due for release later this year.
