The reinvented Mohawk Castle releases inspiring track ‘Crawl to Me’

Until recently, Long Beach creative Erik David Hidde was better known as Prison Escapee, releasing successful tracks like ‘Faces’, ‘Hunt For The Bluest Sky’ and ‘Life As We Know It’. With that project running its natural course, Hidde has reinvented himself once again as Mohawk Castle. This DIY endeavour is the ideal vehicle for the upcoming debut album, Die for Love, which will showcase the artist’s ability to evoke emotional immediacy within the bounds of his unique production style.

The first track from the new Mohawk Castle moniker is ‘Crawl to Me’, an intimate and unpolished track that breathes with rich authenticity. This introspective piece chronicles the songwriter’s experience of resilience, spiritual growth, and breaking free from generational cycles. It’s an undeniably personal message, but I think many younger people can relate to and they seek to shake off the bad habits, trauma, and misplaced coping mechanisms for our forebears.

‘Crawl to Me’ was recorded over nine months in Hidde’s living room, which makes the layered production with its earthy undertones and unfiltered vocals even more impressive. Walking the line between despair and hope, the lyrics encourages the listener to look within during difficult times and draw on their own well of resilience.

Currently, performing along Los Angeles’ coast, ‘Crawl to Me’ gives another reason to keep an eye on Mohawk Castle in the run up to his album.
