The newest track on our listening rotation is one that invites you into a moment of introspection, like the warm embrace of a soft blanket, embroidered with subtle psychedelic patterns. What we’re talking about is ‘Love Bug Drug’ from Portland’s four-piece outfit Jay Si Proof, which is a cosy, acoustic-driven ode to the simplicity of love and the comfort of home. It was written by lead artist Jeff Chilton in his tiny house-on-wheels, an intimate space which has imbued the track with a certain quietude.
This songwriting style, as well as the soft production, reflects the soulful influence of artists like Vulfpeck’s Theo Katzman and Lake Street Dive’s Rachael Price.
