‘amy g. dala’ unfolds in a hazy, somnambulist state with a reverberated guitar that gently swoons in with a meandering melody. This relatively minimalist space is filled out a little more with collapsing drums and tumbling bass. The result is a sound that’s both familiar and distant, blending classic songwriting tropes and elegant guitar work with some earthy grit.
Throughout the track Bancroft walks the line between hopeful and despairing, comforting and unsettling, or optimistic and down-trodden.
