Joshu returns with profound indie-folk EP, way back home

Following the aching vulnerability of Joshu‘s previous single ‘holding on’, the Antiguan singer-songwriter releases a new EP, entitled way back home. This collection of five tracks expands his sonic horizon while staying true to the deeply personal, introspective songwriting that sets him apart. It’s a hauntingly beautiful voyage across the tides of memory, loss, and self-discovery.

Like a message in a bottle cast adrift, these songs carry whispers of longing, love and the search for belonging, washing up on distant shores with an undeniable sense of purpose. way back home is imbued with the gentle pulse of the sea, the steady sway of a boat in transit, and the salt-stung nostalgia of a traveler torn between past and future. Joshu’s delicate vocals and warm acoustic guitar are the vessel, drifting between folk, americana, and soft acoustic hues. The result is a sonic landscape that feels both expansive and deeply intimate, like a late-night conversation under the stars.

Joshu says, “While sailing the mid-Atlantic, surrounded by vastness, I began to question what it truly means to belong. I realized that home isn’t just a physical place—it’s about the relationships we build: with each other, with the land, and with the non-human beings around us. This record is my attempt to untangle those threads and move toward reclaiming that sense of connection.”

The title-track, penned mid-Atlantic, is a masterclass in quiet intensity. Grief and hope intertwined in a tender embrace. The production remains sparse yet immersive, allowing each note to breathe, each lyric to sink in like footprints on wet sand. The entire EP carries a wind-worn wisdom, urging us to find home not in geography, but in the love we nurture, the places we carry within us.
