Kildare’s own Blue Slate recently unleashed their debut EP, This Is How I Sleep At Night. Imagine a soundscape where new wave wistfulness dances with the textured dreaminess of shoegaze, all fueled by raw, jangly guitars and piercing lyrics.
Title-track ‘This Is How I Sleep At Night’ is a full-blown alternative rock crescendo as it closes out the EP. Think reverb-drenched guitars colliding with feedback-laden soundscapes, all while the melodic pull of DIIV wrestles with the raw, untamed energy of The Velvet Underground. Lyrically channeling the boldness of the Manic Street Preachers, the song explores indie rock’s introspective core before diving headfirst into heavier grunge territory. Tailor-made to ignite any live audience, this anthem is aggressive and explosive in the best way possible.
Since their 2023 eruption onto the scene, Blue Slate has been setting the Irish indie scene ablaze. Their live shows are legendary, a mesmerizing spectacle that leaves audiences breathless.
