We love those songs that started out as something personal to the songwriter, but end up having a relatable message that anyone can draw on. That’s just the case with Kailie Simpson‘s powerful new single ‘We Don’t Stand Alone’, which is at its core about self-discovery but through the creative process it took on a broader message.
As Simpson reveals: “I wrote this song as a reflection of my own journey back to myself. But as time passed, I realized it also echoes the uncertainty, division, and fight for truth we see in the world today.”
Produced by Gabe Valle and Tommy McCormick, the track’s cinematic flourish supports the intensity of Simpson‘s vocal delivery and poignant message. The combination of her soulful, powerhouse voices and pop-meets-rock instrumentation makes for easy comparisons to Florence Welch and Hozier.
There’s almost a spiritual energy here too, particularly in lines like the chorus, “we got one life, it’s fight or flight, we don’t stand alone.” That raw and direct poeticism is sure to connect with listeners, especially those seeking some solace, connection, and inspiration.
If ‘We Don’t Stand Alone’ resonated with you, be sure to keep an eye out for the official music video, coming 4th April.
