‘You’re Gonna Go Far’ is Myles from Home’s ode to childlike wonderment

The Vancouver trio Myles from Home first appeared on our radar in late 2024 with their slice of feel-good escapism, ‘Van Trippin”. Now, the Canadian outfit is back with another taste of that signature nostalgia in their latest single ‘You’re Gonna Go Far’, which is a touching tribute to frontman Myles Hildebrand’s father. Like a supportive hand during your first few steps, that encouraging pat on the back or a heartfelt hug, this track seeks to replicate the fatherly warmth that made Hildebrand’s dad so special.

A child-like joy instantly hits the listener from the very opening of ‘You’re Gonna Go Far’, with its vibrant energy and math-rock time signatures. As the track progresses, that sense of relentless optimism continues to spill over from the edges. Buoyed by a rhythmic playfulness that’s been a thread throughout the group’s discography, the mix of jazz-tinged textures with a folk-rock foundation is true to their free spirited approach. Never ones to be tied down to a genre, the unpredictable ebbs and flows of this track remind us to keep that child-like adventure alive, even as a few gray hairs sneak their way into our lives.

You’re Gonna Go Far’ stands out as a turning point for Myles from Home who take their typically wanderlust enthusiasm and bring in a heartfelt sentimentality. It’s authentic without purposefully trying to pull on our heart strings, yet we can’t help but feel a tugging deep within our chest all the same.
