Paul McCartney has begun unveiling the tracks from his upcoming covers album, with a list of artists that really whets the aural appetite – including Phoebe Bridgers, Beck, Anderson .Paak and St, Vincent. One of the most genre bending collaborations comes from Dominic Fike who reimagined McCartney’s ‘The Kiss of Venus’.
The resulting song promises intrigue around every corner, pairing the former Beatle’s signature melodies with Fike’s Frank Ocean-esque laid-back delivery. The climbing pitch shifted refrain adds another contemporary twist, colliding with glassy guitars and snapping snares. The accompanying video is equally glorious. Filmed partly at the New York Times, the recurring newspaper motif reaches its crescendo with a whistling cameo from McCartney himself.
