For those who have never heard of Ava Zarate before, who is she and what is her music about?
Ava Zarate is a singer/producer from West London. My music is all very personal- it’s about love, connection, understanding love- basically it’s me just trying to work things out.

What has been the most rewarding/ most enjoyable highlight of your career so far?
That’s a difficult one. I think performing and seeing people sing my songs. To be honest they were mainly my friends but still it’s so nice to see and hear. People singing my songs with their own meanings.

What have been some major challenges in your music career so far?
Writers block. I had a whole year where I just couldn’t write anything. I was going through a hard time so my head was in such a mess and I couldn’t process my feelings. It’s so frustrating to not be able to write so I guess that was my biggest challenge in music.

What are you grateful for right now in this moment?
Life getting better. Live music soon. Sunsets. Synths. 

Physical copies or streaming sites? 
Physical copies obviously. I would be a bad musician to vote for streaming sites even though I’m guilty for using them. But you get like 0.0016p I believe so…

What was your most played song of 2020?
Real Games by Lucky Daye

A playlist you can’t get enough of?
My own playlist called ‘27’. 27 is my lucky number so that playlist has the songs that move me most.

A dream collaboration?
Khruangbin. 

& Lastly, what can fans expect from Ava Zarate in the coming year?
A lot a lot. Not sure what but a lot haha. Want to be the soundtrack to people’s summer! That’s the aim.
