Last month, we learnt all about Bad Pop‘s return to the release wheel after a three-year-long hiatus. The Canadian rock trio kicked things off with a deluxe edition of their self-titled debut album, of which we loved ‘Pieces Fit Right’. Now, the band have some fresh and crunchy for us to snack on in the form of ‘Destructo’.
It’s a rattling piece of fuzzy alt-rock with a swaying rock’n’roll melody that shifts into an oddly joyful chorus that makes us want to don a shift dress and get a mod haircut, but keep the leather jacket and ass-kicking boots on. ‘Destructo’ is aptly named as Bad Pop gracefully dismantle genre boundaries here; a little bit of glam-rock, a pinch of pop-punk and a helping a garage-rock all go into the fiery track.
This single is a potent teaser for Bad Pop’s forthcoming six-track record titled Dark Metal out via Killing Moon Records this June.
