Toronto-based rap artist Charmaine returns today with the long-awaited visuals to her hit ‘Double Dutch’, taken from her debut EP, Hood Avante-Garde which saw the budding artist propelled to new heights; securing placements on several Spotify Editorial playlists as well as recognition from Soundcloud’s ‘First On Soundcloud’ programme in support of new, untapped talent.
With a promising run of singles behind her and the support of some of the biggest names in the industry, there’s no doubt that Charmaine is well on her way to becoming a global success and a Canadian household name in league with the likes of Justin Bieber, Drake, Celine Dion and The Weeknd.
Directed by Spencer Edwards the clip sees Charmaine flaunt culture and couture, showcasing her take on the modern-day renaissance woman she first introduced on her debut single, ‘BOLD.’
Speaking on the making of the video, Charmaine states:
“It was amazing! I had such a blast but that’s normal for us, it’s always a vibe on set! I want them to understand that the only competition they have in life is themselves and you should always do your best to outdo yourself.”
Known for her confident persona, braggadocious bars and ostentatious outfits, Charmaine refuses to be ignored, pushing her art and her aesthetic further and further with each release, making her an exciting prospect for the Canadian rap arena and one to watch for the coming year.
