Daring, bold, in your face and down right explosive Tremayne returns to the solo music scene with an almighty bang in the form of new single ‘Total Fucking Darkness’.
A founding member of Canadian hip hop collective STAYOUTLATE, alongside fellow artists Scotty IV, Charlie Noiir and YoungWolf, Tremayne has been busy releasing music as a team, most recently with their debut album Fabergé.
With his last solo release ‘KIDZ BOP 41’ dating back to 2019, it was high time Tremayne stepped back in the driving seat and ‘Total Fucking Darkness’ has blasted him back into full gear. An eclectic blend of Rap, Alternative Hip Hop and Trap, this latest offering holds more than initially meets the eye with lyrical content commenting deeply on our relationship with fashion and style.
As Tremayne explains,
“This is my attempt to discuss the difference between fashion and style without coming off as a pretentious prick. I love fashion deeply. I love fashion almost as much as I love music. I can watch runway shows for hours, I can shop for days and if I had a choice folks like Raf Simons, Demna Gvasalia, Chitose Abe, and this kid from Toronto named Aris would be my best friends. Let me say this again, I love fashion. But what is fashion without style?
Money makes anyone fashionable, but it can’t make you stylish. style is more than being able to purchase a pair of balenciaga triple s’, an off white belt and some Amiri jeans. Style is the exploration of your physical and often emotional self. accentuating the parts you love, being vulnerable with parts you hate. You can give 10 different people a grey sweatsuit and that sweat suit will present completely different on all 10 people.
One of the best examples of what I’m trying to explain is the 2016 FW Vetement runway show. A show that I felt in many ways captured a lot of my feelings in style and fashion. This song in some ways represents if I could go back to that show and be a part of it in any way.”
With such an energetic and fiery single catapulting him back onto the scene, we greatly look forward to what Tremayne has carefully hidden up his sleeve next.
