If listening to Third Eye Blind and The 1975 sounds like your idea of a good time, then you’re in the right place, because we have a cathartic treat for you in the form of ‘Drama Queen’ from Nashville-based musician Paul Vinson. He’s been releasing track since 2017, but this has to be one of his boldest outputs yet and part of that is shaking off everyone else’s expectations and just going with what feels right.
In ‘Drama Queen’, Vinson probes into his own inner psyche in an act of unbridled self reflection, as he explains here: “It’s all about my anxieties amidst relationship conflict and blowing things way out of proportion in my head.”
Over a biting rhythm, he sings in that powerful croon about slights, wether imagined or real, and puzzles about where it all could have gone wrong in this relationship. These hurt feelings rattle against the rock-pop chord ascensions and peppy synth keys.
Produced by fellow Tennessean Bryce Dubray (of Future Crib) and mixed by Bobby Knepper (of Dreamer Boy), ‘Drama Queen’ is the landmark offering from Paul Vinson and we look forward to what else this artist has been cooking up lately.
