Abby Nissenbaum’s ‘Glass Half Full’ is a powerful LGBTQ+ heartbreak anthem

Earlier this year, we introduced you to Abby Nissenbaum‘s EP via the single ‘Shelly Johnson’. Now, with the official release of the Unreliable Narrator EP all underway, the singer-songwriter gives us another scintillating treat through a music video for a track from the record, ‘Glass Half Full’.

As you’ll discover, the track showcases Nissenbaum‘s artistic range, combining electronic beats, swelling bass, intertwining guitar lines, and glitches. Blending lo-fi electronics with indie-rock sensibilities and pop accessibility, ‘Glass Half Full’ creates a shimmering cross-genre experience. The song builds up with explosive guitar lines and grand synths in the high-octane chorus, accompanied by the artist’s emotive lead vocals, resulting in a heartfelt, exhilarating, and cinematic journey.

Abby Nissenbaum shares that ‘Glass Half Full’ serves as a LGBTQ+ heartbreak anthem:

“’Glass Half Full’ is a lesbian/queer heartbreak anthem capturing the anguish of betrayal in a relationship. The music video plays out like a short film, with director Morgan Jergens masterfully capturing the intense beauty of a Sapphic relationship alongside the pain at each fracture as it falls apart. I chose a Pride Month release for this music video to highlight the power and realness of LGBTQ+ relationships, even as the world continues to question our legitimacy.”

By releasing the video during Pride Month, Abby Nissenbaum aims to showcase the power and authenticity of LGBTQ+ relationships.

You can also listen to ‘Glass Half Full’ in our Indie Rockers and Shades of Pop playlists.
