Genevieve Miles explores the weight of emotions in So heavy, so hard to hold EP

Bristol and Birmingham-based musician Genevieve Miles unveils her soul-stirring EP, So heavy, so hard to hold, a collection of indie-pop gems born from the depths of emotions too weighty for a single heart to bear. Written in 2020, these six songs have been a steadfast companion through the songwriter’s own evolving challenges, offering wisdom and comfort in times of loss and grief.

The EP’s opening track ‘Beer In The Fridge’ serves as a bittersweet reflection on a past relationship, balancing imagined happiness with stark reality. Miles‘ voice, filled with subtle melancholy, dances over a soft acoustic guitar, creating an atmosphere of longing. The song is a symbolic awakening from dreams of the past. From the dark twists of ‘Ocean’ to the reggae-infused ‘Tough Love’ and the sun-soaked anthem ‘The Past’, each song unfolds a unique sonic landscape. ‘Good’ challenges societal expectations with funky diversions, while a reimagining of George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass’ adds a nostalgic touch.

Now 24-years-old, Miles reflects on the journey, stating, “They’ve been there for me as little gems of hope. They are about all the pain we carry around that feels too heavy for anyone else to hold, that often feels too scary to hold ourselves. I hope this EP makes you feel held and reminds you how truly loveable you are. You are never too much, and you are always enough.”

Blending sincerity, soulfulness, and a touch of wild spirit, Genevieve Miles emerges not just as a musician but a powerful storyteller, offering a sonic embrace to all who listen.
