London-based Australian band The Wattles continue their rise with ‘(I Want To) Feel It All’

The idea that a track is “slow burning” is a fairly common concept within the music blogosphere, but few songs actually evoke that sense of an ember gradually developing into a full blaze. This is where The Wattles‘ new single ‘(I Want To) Feel It All’ stands out from the crowd. Opening with spaced-out piano notes, minimalist percussion, and an unfiltered voice conveying both fragility and determination, this band instantly caught our attention. The lyrics, written and performed by frontwoman Lucy, are a poignant expression of desire, from which many people, especially women, are often dissuaded from.

Here Lucy shares, “Writing this track helped me solidify that I am proud of my inherent desire to change and put myself out there – to really feel all the things. Despite the inevitable falls that come with this.”

As the song progresses, the soundscape is populated by vibrant guitar and energetic drums showing the growing passion as Lucy restates again and again her wish to feel it all. Underpinning the increasing urgency, you can hear that same two-note piano continuing on undeterred; this passion shouldn’t be mistaken as rash judgement, there’s that stability at the core. What really makes ‘(I Want To) Feel It All’ so satisfying is that The Wattles gives it their all.

It’s also worth noting that this track will feature on their upcoming EP, Fooled. There’s also a show just around the corner on 15th December at the O2 Academy in Islington, further proving that this Australian band is fast making London their new home.
