Let’s dive right in and talk about your new album, Pulse, what does this release mean to you?
Pulse is our second album and it means we are closer to finding our sound and everything attached to that!! This album is a truer picture of us and written by our guitarist and producer Christopher Nix.
Do you have a favourite song from the record? And why?
I am so very fortunate that I love each song on the album however ‘Pulse’ the title track is the gem for me – it encompasses every type of rock sound I love. I get excited and moved each and every time I hear it!!
Who are some of the major influences on your sound?
I would say every piece of music that each of us has listened to our whole lives has influenced our sound.
Why do you think that rock is such an enduring genre that continues to inspire both musicians and listeners?
Rock… Even the word raises energy and excitement. Rock music is its own force in nature and plays a significant role in most peoples lives whether they are walking around a store or at a football game – it connects people so beautifully.
Since the release of your debut album in 2022, what has been the band’s journey like? Any highlights or challenges?
We have been together for four years and really enjoy playing together. For us there is nothing more important than the music and playing together… we rehearse a lot. Our highlight has been the sound and complexity of the music and this year receiving a Grammy consideration for Best Rock Performance for the title track “Pulse” off our second album!! What a huge surprise!! We are now looking forward to performing and getting out there to meet everyone in 2025!
Who are some newer bands and artists currently on your listening rotation right now?
I have not had time to listen to anyone – the last four years have been nothing but heads down focus on our music. I’m looking forward to hearing some other bands.
Do you have any advice for fellow or future bands who want to branch out of their comfort zone?
What great questions these are… I ask for a lot of help and reach out to a lot of experts – there is also a lot of wisdom within your own band.
And lastly, what can fans expect from Rok Ali and The Addiction over the coming months?
A lot more music and great shows in 2025!!!
