There’s something incredibly unique about BARLI’s sound which sits somewhere between neo-soul, art-pop and alt-jazz. Perhaps that’s due to the variety of influences that encompass BARLI’s world; from the spoken word of Gil Scott Heron to spending time in the studio with Duran Duran, it’s diversity that seeps into every pore of BARLI’s new EP.
From the EP, we’ve been inextricably drawn towards ‘Someday All This Pain Will Be Useful’. It’s wondrously emotive piano ballad in which BARLI pours out her hope for emotional resilience. As the singer-songwriter shares, “Someday all this pain is about enduring and living life lessons, hope and promise.”
It’s a beautiful gem of honest songwriting that strikes particularly hard during a time of such turbulence and indeed pain. Here’s to a better world.
