A divine collaboration between R&B/soul artist Lina Nikol and Bulgarian producer Boyan, ‘My Time’ is a sumptuous slice of contemporary funk and soul from our good friends over at Stereofox Records.
Opening with a piano introduction that you’d expect to hear in a late night bar filled with swirls of smoke and the clinks of ice in whiskey glasses, the song blossoms into an even more intimate atmosphere. The honeyed R&B vocals of Lina Nikol sings about unconditional love over Boyan‘s dynamic productive that incorporates elements of jazz, funk, soul, R&B and chilltronica.
Thinking back on when herself and Boyan first began working together, Nikol shares:
“One day, while working in the studio, Boyan just told me he’ll send me a demo of “My time” if I wanna try out some vocals. I was kind of on a Jill Scott, Ledisi, Erykah Badu vibe at that time, listening to whole albums, and when I heard the instrumental it came so naturally to lay down the vocals. I think you can sense the influence, but that’s the magic of music, we are all influenced by so many great artists and create our own signature.”
