On The Record: Ena Fay

on

For those who have never heard of Ena Fay before, who is she and what is her music about?

Thanks for asking. I am a singer and songwriter, originally from Germany, grew up in Ireland/N Ireland as a child and now based in London. My music is about life, love and hope.

What has been the most rewarding/most enjoyable highlight of your career so far?

The Belfast concert we did in summer 2019. And the phone call from Wilton’s Music Hall that I had been accepted to playing at their festival in May 2020, for me a dream theatre venue. Unfortunately, that fell through because of the pandemic.

What have been some major challenges in your music career so far?

To find the time to actually write songs and practice music while working as a nanny to finance myself and managing my own solo artist career.

What are you grateful for right now in this moment?

For all the love and support I have received so far for my current ‘Because I Care’ release. And for some strong musical friendships I have made the past couple of years.

Physical copies or streaming sites?

By now streaming websites. I use them all the time. But I do still like to buy Cds from time to time, to add into my big Cd box and to support the artist.

What was your most played song of 2020?

If you mean the song I most listened to myself, probably ‘I Want You Around’ by Snoh Aalegra. If you mean a song of mine that people most listened to, then probably ‘This Is Us’ from my debut EP.

A playlist you can’t get enough of?

The song radio Spotify playlist to ‘Feeling Good’ by Nina Simone.

A dream collaboration?

I am really interested in working with the upcoming artist Emmit Fenn. His sound is also very cinematic and usually piano based. We both have a melancholic touch to our music and what I am also really into is his awesome electronic production.

& Lastly, what can fans expect from Ena Fay in the coming year?

The completed EP ‘I Can Feel It, Too’ will be coming out in the next couple of months! Then we should be putting on the release show in London at around the same time, fingers crossed it’s gonna be with a live audience. After that, remix releases should be coming your way – I am still looking for artists to remix the songs actually, so if any producers are reading this, have a listen and hit me up if you got ideas!! Much love!!
