Philadelphia-based artist Kid K truly understands the importance of music. When he was nine-year-old, he suffered an aneurysm that left him paralyzed on his entire left side. As he recalls, “I wasn’t allowed to play sports having only half a skull in my head. I couldn’t socialize with other kids and I always felt alone. Music was the only thing I truly had.”
Now 22-years-old, he hasn’t lost that sense of introspection as you can hear throughout his dazzling new single ‘Kidsitter‘. Produced, written, and arranged by Kid K (with additional recording, mixing, and mastering by DJ Spenden), this sensitive indie-R&B, alt-pop track cultivates a relationship with the listener true to the artist’s passion for self-improvement. In his expressive, rich voice he details how people chase after unrequited love, but Kid K‘s melodious encouragement assures the listener that they are meant for something more than that. The minimalist electronic R&B arrangement really allows you to get into the groove of this track and be receptive to this positive, well-intentioned message.
We’re seriously impressed by ‘Kidsitter’ and can totally hear why Kid K has been dubbed a “diamond in the rough”, although we don’t reckon it’s all that rough after listening to this. Look out for his upcoming EP, In Between Lucid Dreams, set for release on November 5th.
