On The Record: The Infinite Daisy Chains

We first introduced you to Washington D.C. duo The Infinite Daisy Chains back in September with their dreamy single ‘Hope You Grow’ (which you can check out here) and now Kristina Westernik-Dandridge and Ian Dandridge are back again with equally tranquil track ‘Paper Tigers’. It’s a psychedelia infused indie-pop track that exorcised the daily stressors of life, that in the moment might feel all consuming, but in the big picture, it wasn’t really a big deal after all. As such, the pair came up with this metaphor of paper tigers; threatening in appearance but ineffectual in reality. This idea translates well into the washed-out guitars and punchy percussion which almost overpower Kristina’s effortful vocals, before a fiery guitar riff backed up by intensified drums up the ante. By the end of ‘Paper Tigers’, you really do feel like you’ve pushed back all that stress and come out the other side refreshed. Below we get more insight into the band behind the song.

How would you summarise The Infinite Daisy Chain’s sound?

Our dream pop creations are made with love, dripping in reverb!

What have been some major challenges in your music career so far?

We started our project during the pandemic so we have had to be creative in how we promote our music. We have tried many different avenues digitally from livestreams on IG to tiktok and connecting with friends and fans on our discord account.

What are you grateful for right now in this moment?

We are grateful to finally release our Between You and Me EP, it’s been in the works steadily for the past year so it’s nice to relax for a moment.

Do you prefer physical copies or streaming sites?

Streaming is our go-to.

What is your most played song of 2021?

Likely our own music since we’ve heard our stuff 1000 times because we would scrutinize the production and evaluate the mixes. Other than our own stuff, we recommend retrofuturist psych pop band, Spaceface, with their new song ‘Earth in Awe’. It’s off of their upcoming album which is available for pre-save here.

How about an album you can’t get enough of?

We are a fan of Eric Hilton (from Thievery Corporation and his latest album Ceremony.

And lastly, what can fans expect from the project for the rest of the year?

The year is almost over and winter is coming! Expect more coverage of our latest Between You and Me EP, new remixes and collaborations in the works with some of our favorite artists.
