“So Much Love is my very first love song, can you believe it? I thought it was about time! We recorded while I was super pregnant and loved up on oxytocin, so this song is for the love you feel as a partner, a parent, a child, a friend, a human full of SO MUCH LOVE!”
Doesn’t that just put a smile on your face? Wouldn’t you pick that out of a musical menu? We know we would! We are deep in the love feels of Calista Kazuko’s magical extravaganza ‘So Much Love’. Experimental jazz at its finest, although the genre it explores is actually completely unique to Calista, ‘So Much Love’ is a refined track that evokes an overdose of endorphins.
While she has been compared to Kate Bush, Regina Spektor and Marina and the Diamonds, to us, she just sounds like mother nature enchanting the creatures of the earth. The wide mix and organic rhythms pair up seamlessly with the reverbery and powerful vocals, which shift to liquid at times. Calista acquires an all-power quality that is so comforting and amusing.
Very rarely we find music that steps beyond the third wall to connect with listeners in a remarkable exchange – this is one of those times. ‘So Much Love’ exposes Calista Kazuko’s great skill in songcraft and arrangement.
It would be a shame not to experience her music. Do yourself a favour and listen to the track. In the meantime, we’ll be adding Calista Kazuko to the list of our basic human needs.
