For those who have never heard of Blair West, who is she and what is her music about?
“Often described as a mix between Joni Mitchell, Jewel and Taylor Swift, Blair West’s sound is a glorious concoction of folk-pop with soul and indie influences threaded throughout. With her creativity coming from her tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, New Yorker grit, and Scorpio sensitivity (if you know you know!) she has been writing music since the tender age of five. With a keen knowledge and background in Piano, Guitar, Musical Theatre, she was also the president of her college a-cappella group.
Blair has always felt the underlying urge and ever-present nudge to pursue her music career professionally, yet had to pop her dreams temporarily on the shelf when she moved to NYC. Having since launched a successful career in journalism and marketing—earning her the skills she now puts to good use, she is ready to return to her musicality. After several years of writing songs after long days in the office, Blair soon realized there was no passion stronger than that for her music, and she finally decided to “go for it”.
Since that huge leap of faith, Blair has been performing all around the East Coast, perfecting her musical skill and stage presence and has spent hours upon hours writing music, honing in on her unique sound. Her debut singles ‘All this to Say’ and ‘Rabbit Holes’ amassed more than 72,000 streams on Spotify.”
What has been the most rewarding/ most enjoyable highlight of your career so far?
Filming my first music video was a major “pinch me” moment. We had the best time creating the concept on a shoestring budget (literally $0) and seeing it live on Youtube (19,000 streams!) was so surreal.
What have been some major challenges in your music career so far?
Being a musician means constantly hustling — between live shows, social media, writing, recording, practicing, networking etc… there isn’t enough time in the day! I’d say the biggest challenge has been managing my time and resources, and determining what moves to make.
What are you grateful for right now in this moment?
I’m so grateful for my community of supporters. From my closest friends to people around the world who follow me and listen to my music, this community is what keeps me going and makes me so grateful to be an artist.

“oat milk lattes in the mountains” is one of my favorite playlists for chill listening.

I am ready to keep writing, performing in new settings and pushing myself to new challenges. The sky’s the limit!
